Smriti, Sahaja and Sravya in semis

Smriti Bhasin, Sahaja Yamalapally, C. Sravya Shivanithe and Sunskruti Damera sealed semifinal spots in the women’s singles semifinals of the TSTA AITA Ranking Tennis Tournament being organised by the Telangana State Tennis Association at SATS Tennis Complex, Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad.

Smriti Bhasin was off to a bad start and inspite of losing the first she kept her spirits high and bounced back against Prathiba Prasad Narayan in the later sets to seal a comprehensive victory by a 4-6, 61, 6-2 scoreline.

Sahaja, Sravya and Sunskruti came up scintillating preformances and cruised into the semifinals with straight set victories.

Meanwhile, in the men’s singles Ajay Prithvik was in for a tense quarterfinal face off with Krishna Teja Ankam. Ajay found his usual form missing at the outset and Krishna made the best of his shortfalls to bag the first set.

Ajay, however, regained his grit and rallied to seal a convincing 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.

B. Sai Saran Reddy was in top gear from the very start and sent Hevanth V. Kumar packing in straight sets 6-4, 7-5 to clinch a semifinal spot.

Prithvi Sekhar and Theyjo J. Oges were the other players who made it to the Last-four round of men’s singles.

Women’s Singles: Smriti Bhasin (TS) bt Prathiba Prasad Narayan (Kar x1) 4-6, 6-1, 6-2; Sahaja Yamalapally (TS) bt Ganeshi Aniyaa (MP) 6-3, 6-1; C. Sravya Shivani (TS) bt Kalva Likhitha (TS) 6-2, 6-4; Sunskruti Damera (TS) bt Y Sai Dedeepya (TS x2) 7-6(1), 2-1 concede.
