Go Daddy most sought by cyber crooks

- DC CORRESPONDENT

The US-based website builder Go Daddy is most sought after by online fraudsters, according to records of cybercrime. By paying Go Daddy just `99, cyber crooks have created their own fake websites and cheated many people. The latest victim is the Telangana state agricultural department website which was created through Go Daddy, which also takes the longest time to disclose the IP address of online hackers, stalkers and those committing cyber crimes. Social giants like Google, Gmail and Facebook take around 10 to 12 days.

Recently, the city cyber department registered a case against a website for displaying fake job notification by the ITE&C department. The website http://telangana.gred.co.in/ posted a recruitment notification allegedly issued by Telangana Agro Development Corporation. The ITE&C department found it to be fake. TS Agros also issued a clarification that it had not issued any such job notification.

The Cyber Security Wing registered a case under sections 66 c, d of the IT Act and IPC 419, 420 and is investigating the matter.

“The fraudster created the fake website through the Go Daddy web hosting company. The department has written to the web builder's office in Ahmedabad; however they have not responded. There are over 50 cases registered with the cybercrime wing against fake websites created from GoDaddy,” cyber crime ACP KCS Raghu Vir said.

Whenever a crime is reported to the cyber security wing, the department writes to the concerned company seeking IP address and login details of the suspect. In case of obscene content, the material is asked to be deleted.”
