Cases filed against Babu Gogineni

Human Rights activist Rajaji Ramnadh Babu Gogineni, who is currently a contestant in Big Boss Season 2, has been booked for ‘sedition’ and ‘treason’ and 11 more crimes, including violation of the UIDAI Act.

One Veera Narayana of Madhapur had approached the court, demanding to take action against Babu Gogineni. He had moved the court, seeking to remove the videos of Babu Gogineni and his objectiona­ble speeches.

The complainan­t alleged that the provoking comments of Babu Gogineni were resulting in physical attacks against a community living overseas.

He also complained against the practice of Gogineni collecting Aadhar details from citizens. Following the complaint, the court had directed the police to book cases against Babu Gogineni.

The allegation­s made against Babu Gogineni are: The rationalis­t had violated UIDAI rules by collecting Aadhaar card numbers of various citizens while organising events in Visakhapat­nam , Hyderabad and Bengaluru . The organisati­on was collecting informatio­n, including personal details in their forms and displaying it on their documents, certificat­es, registers and database. This is in violation of Chapter VII, 3842, of the UIDAI Act and Sections of the IPC. Storing Aadhar details is a punishable offence, without proper registrati­on.

Complaints were raised against Gogineni for alleged religious discrimina­tion in the name of humanity through local satellite and web channels. “The accused is insulting religious books. He also claims to be the founder of South Asian Humanist Associatio­n. He has given a statement in the Press that a particular community is a terrorist country,” the complainan­t said.

Madhapur police has booked Gogineni under Sections 121, 124 (a), 153 (a), 153 (b), 406, 420, 504, 505 , 295- A, 292 , 293 of the IPC and Chapter VII 38 to 42 of the UIDAI Act. Madhapur police have begun the probe.

Police is gathering informatio­n on Babu Gogineni's meetings and video footages of his speeches. More details are yet to be known.
