Tracking crimes has helped prevent crimes: Commissioner Men seek cops help to get back wives
Saroornagar, Bhongir and Kushaiguda where several hundreds of couples have been counselled over cases including dowry harassment, domestic violence, extra-marital affairs and for the birth of a female child.
Since January this year, counsellers have attended about 760 cases. Some men too lodged complaints with the police alleging their inlaws, and also their parents in some instances not being supportive.
Saroornagar women’s police station inspector G. Manjula said most of the complaints received were from techies. “In one case, a techie wanted the police to counsel his in-laws to send his wife back to him. Though there were no disputes, the woman’s parents were stopping her from going to her husband.” she said.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat, said the counselling centres established to help women in distress had received complaints from men. “About 17 men have approached the centres. Their complaints were reviewed and disputes settled.” he said.
The commissioner said the special operations team, constituted to deal with organised crime, has arrested about 1,955 persons in 832 cases and seized over `4.92 crore in cash since July 1 last yera.
“Tracking crimes from source to destination has helped in preventing organised crimes like cricket betting, brothels and job frauds.” said the commissioner during a press conference at his office. A woman who on her way to work was robbed of her phone early on Monday morning at Jubilee Hills checkpost.
According to V. Shiva Shankar, Detective Sub-Inspector of Jubilee Hills police station, Bhargavi, an aeronautical engineer was walking from Jubilee Hills check post to catch a bus. “She was crossing the road, when three unidentified men came from behind, snatched away her phone and ran away from the scene,” said the official.
A case has been registered at the Jubilee Hills police station.
