- DC CORRESPONDENT

A man beat his wife to death with an iron rod because she allegedly concealed the love affair of their daughter from him.

The girl, R. Vanajakshi, left home and married her boyfriend about a month back. When the father, Rapuru Srinivasulu confronted Vanajakshi on the issue, she told him that she had informed her mother Venkata Ramanamma about the affair.

According to police, Srinivasulu and Ramanamma were running a noodles outlet and used to rent out their truck. Vanajakshi, who belongs to a backward caste, fell in love with Sai of Kalichedu, who belonged to the Scheduled Caste community, and married him one month back without informing her parents. When they came to know about it, it caused turmoil in the family as Srinivasulu suspected that his wife had facilitated the marriage.

In this backdrop, her parents spoke with Vanajakshi, who is living in Nellore, over the phone before going to see her. When Srinivasulu questioned Vanajakshi about keeping him in the dark about the wedding, she said her mother was aware of her plans two months before the marriage.

While returning home in their truck, Srinivasulu stopped the vehicle and attacked Ramanamma with an iron rod.

Ramanamma suffered injuries on the head and shoulders and died on the spot. Srinivasulu surrendered himself to the Manupolu police after reporting the murder.

Gudur Rural circle inspector Akkeswar Rao and Manubolu sub-inspector Srinivasulu inspected the spot of murder and sent the body for post-mortem after registering a case.
