Girl falls to death from 5th floor

A 14-year-old girl who went for a walk on the the terrace of a five-storied residentia­l building slipped and fell to death on Sunday morning.

The girl had a habit of walking every morning and it is suspected that she slipped while sitting on the parapet wall, said the Alwal police.

Varsha, 14, daughter of Nagaraju was a resident of JJ nagar in Alwal. On Sunday morning, she told her parents that she was going for a walk and went upstairs.

Later, the other residents alerted Varsha’s parents that she had fallen down from the terrace. When her family members rushed down, they saw her lying unconsciou­s in a pool of blood due to critical head injury.

Alwal inspector V. Srikanth Goud said, “Varsha was a Class IX student in a private school. Her parents told that it was routine for her to go for morning walks. It is suspected that she would have sat on the parapet wall after the walk and slipped from there. The girl died instantly.”

A case of suspicious death has been registered based on the complaint given by her father. The body has been handed over to the family after an autospy was at the Gandhi Hospital mortuary, added Goud. The south zone police have recommende­d disciplina­ry action against a sub-inspector of Kalapatthe­r police station for derelictio­n of duty.

A report was submitted to the higher-ups by the south zone police are conducting a basic enquiry.

According to the sources, the sub-inspector identified as P. Mahender Reddy of Kalapather police station had failed to rush to the spot where two groups of history sheeters were creating trouble on June 28.

The police station received informatio­n from locals about trouble following which a couple of crime team constables rushed to the spot.

“The sub-inspector, who was at the police station went home instead of rushing to the spot. He turned up only the next day and again went on leave,” said a senior police official.

He added that with no supervisor­y officer, a handful of constables prevented the trouble from escalating.

The local police officials informed the senior police officials who sent a report against the subinspect­or to higher officials recommendi­ng disciplina­ry action.
