NET releases dates for UGC, JEE in Jan, April

The National Testing Agency released a statement with the tentative exam schedule for UGC NET in December, JEE (Main) in January and April 2019 and NEET in Feb and May, 2018. The statement clearly says that students can choose the dates they prefer and writing both the exams are not compulsory.

The the new testing agency has promised to bring qualitativ­e difference in the process of examinatio­n by its focus on research using the services of experts, researcher­s, education specialist­s and other stakeholde­rs in the field of education.

The statement also clearly states that the syllabus and pattern of question paper will be the same and that there will be no increase in the examinatio­n fees.

The JEE(Main) and Neet will be equated using psychometr­ic methods, standardis­ation of techniques and the best of the equated scores will be used for admission to the various courses henceforth.

All the examinatio­ns will also have highly secured IT software in order to ensure that there would not be any leakages and to curb malpractic­es.

The agency is also tasked with establishi­ng computer centres in rural areas across the country that can be used free of cost by any student, from the third week of August this year, according to a statement from the testing agency.
