START-UP CONCLAVE ON AUG. 30, 31

Rural innovators, start-ups and funding agencies, as well as students from schools and colleges, will get an opportunit­y to leverage each others’ strengths for bringing into the fray, sustainabl­e solutions for rural developmen­t at the second Rural Innovators Start-up Conclave to be held in Hyderabad on August 30 and 31 this year.

Being hosted by the National Institute for Rural Developmen­t and Panchayati Raj, the conclave was instituted with the aim of identifyin­g rural innovation­s and startups, creating a platform for their exposure, education and capacity building, mentoring and incubation, and creating opportunit­ies to connect national and internatio­nal networks.

The themes of the conclave are agricultur­e and allied activities, green energy, and waste to wealth, sustainabl­e housing, health and elderly care, drinking water and sanitation, and sustainabl­e livelihood.

The institute will also give away a ‘Best Innovator’ award and a ‘Best Startup’ award under each of these categories, and invites applicatio­ns from Indian and internatio­nal residents, and from start-ups no older than five years with an annual turnover not exceeding `50 lakhs.

A fellowship of `1.2 lakh and ` 2.4 lakh will be provided to innovators and start-ups respective­ly. The institute will also play a key role in connecting innovators with appropriat­e institutio­ns and investors.
