CONSTRUCTION SITE BLAST INJURES TWO

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, JULY 13

One person lost his foot, while another suffered multiple injuries to his leg in an explosion in a lorry that was carrying gelatine sticks to a construction site at Narsingi. The two victims were rushed to Continental Hospital in Gachibowli for treatment and are stated to be out of danger.

The explosion took place at Phoenix SEZ located in Puppalaguda under Narsingi police station limits around 7.30 pm when the explosives were being transported to the construction site in a lorry.

The impact of the explosion was so high that the public at Gachibowli also heard a series of multiple blasts. As the explosives were still present in the lorry, it was completely destroyed.

The police, who have cordoned the area in order to prevent entry of strangers into the crime scene, said that the blast site would be inspected on Saturday morning.

“The blast is expected to have occurred due to the mishandling of the explosives, which were present in the lorry. The tipper and two cars parked nearby were damaged and glass windows of an apartment broken,” said Madhapur deputy commissioner of police A. Venkateshwar Rao.

He said that the site supervisor Paspula Naresh (27) from Annasagar in Mahabubnagar and driver Pathi Ramesh (25) of Shankarpally suffered grievous injuries.

“Due to the explosion, Naresh’s foot got severed from below the ankle, while Ramesh got multiple injuries,” he said.
