TRS, MIM tactic plan likely

- L. VENKAT RAM REDDY I DC HYDERABAD, JULY 14

TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has drawn up a twin strategy to keep the party on top despite any outcome in the fastapproaching elections.

A party source said Mr Rao’s plan is to have a prepoll understanding with the MIM and, as things stand, a post-poll alliance with the BJP. The postpoll BJP alliance will depend on whether the party can form government at the Centre or not.

If not, Mr Rao wants to ally with Third Front parties, if they are capable of forming government at the Centre after the poll results are out.

Mr Rao is of the opinion that the party should not take any step which could benefit the Congress.

A few senior leaders within the ruling TRS in Nizamabad are targeting party MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of Chief Minister and party chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and a few MLAs over not being given enough prominence in party activities.

TRS politburo member A.S. Poshetty, senior party leader Kanchetti Gangadhar and former municipal councillor Koneru Sai Kumar said Ms Kavitha and party MLAs are ignoring senior leaders and party activists.

The TRS leaders said they want to highlight to the top leadership the dissatisfaction within the party cadre. At a meeting held in Dichpally on Friday, the leaders discussed various issues plaguing the party and decided to organise a special meeting in Nizamabad on Sunday.

“We have faced police cases and followed the footsteps of KCR during the Telangana movement,” said Mr Poshetty, adding that unfortunately traitors of the struggle were being nominated for key posts in the TRS government while party founders were being neglected.

Mr Poshetty said Ms Kavitha should react to the injustice the senior party leaders were being subjected to. “It is not indiscipline. It is our dissatisfaction about the party high command,” he said.

The meeting of undivided Nizamabad district leaders will be held at Sandeep Gardens in Nizamabad on Sunday 11 am, the organisers said.
