`309cr set aside for good roads

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporatio­n has decided to take up the road restoratio­n works on a war footing. The state government has accorded administra­tive sanction of `309.79 crore for road repairs works under periodical preventive maintenanc­e and complete them by October. Besides this, the corporatio­n and Hyderabad Road Developmen­t Corporatio­n will also construct 309.76 km footpath at an estimated cost of `87.71 crore.

The GHMC has taken up restoratio­n works on roads which have damaged due to recent rainfall. The footpaths in cement concrete white topping works have been sanctioned under Periodical Preventive Maintenanc­e where total 48,952 metres for which `916.78 lakh has been sanctioned in Uppal, Santosh Nagar, Falaknuma, Jubilee Hills, Yousufguda, Quthbullap­ur, Secunderab­ad, Begumpet and will be completed by October 31.

The works pertaining to footpaths in BT Roads sanctioned under PPM for which `1503.64 lakh sanctioned for 70,970 kilometre in Uppal, Malakpet, Santosh

Nagar, Chandrayan­gutta, Charminar, Falaknuma, Rajendrana­gar Circles and the works will be completed by October 15. The corporatio­n will lay 157.53 km at a cost of `29.64 crore and Hyderabad Road Developmen­t Corporatio­n will construct 152.23 kms footpath for which `58.07 crore had been sanctioned.
