Couple held in job fraud racket

-

A couple has been arrested by the cyber cell of the Cyberabad police on Saturday for cheating a job aspirant under the pretext of hiring him for a job in Singapore.

The accused identified as Padigala Sruthi and her husband Pandiri Naveen, residents of Manikonda, contacted Pagadala Ramya Rashmi, through Facebook. Later, they assured to find a job for her in Singapore and collected about `7.65 lakh.

“The couple told that their relative owns a restaurant in Singapore and would find a job for her there. Under this pretext, they collected money for various procedures and asked her to deposit it in four different bank accounts,” said inspector K. Srinivas.

The woman was promised Singapore Dollar (SGD) 2,500 a month. Thereafter, Sruthi sent fake visa documents to Ramya, who checked online to verify the authenticity of the same. She found it to be fake, following which she lodged a complaint.

The couple had duped Ramya to overcome their financial crisis. A three months pregnant woman committed suicide by hanging on Saturday.

The Sanathnagar police have identified the victim as C. Swetha, a resident of Sanathnagar.

According to the police, Swetha’s son died four months back due to health problems after which she was depressed. Cops suspect that she might have taken this step due to depression.

“She committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan on Saturday when her husband went to Delhi for work,” said Sanathnagar S-I S. Venkanna.

The Sanathnagar police registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and handed over the body to family members after post-mortem at Gandhi Hospital.
