The Congress on Saturday said that the TRS had lost a golden opportunity to extract benefits for the state from the Centre when the noconfidence motion against the NDA government was taken up in the Lok Sabha on Friday.

TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar said TRS MPs had miserably failed to raise issues concerning the state and pending bifurcation-related assurances in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 which had not been fulfilled even after four years.

Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy, briefing the media along with legislator A. Revanth Reddy. said the attitude of the TRS in the Lok Sabha had exposed its secret pact with the BJP.

“The TD on one hand came out of the NDA and moved a no-confidence motion against the BJP government to safeguard the interests of Andhra Pradesh and achieve pending bifurcation-related assurances. The TRS on the other hand has been maintaining friendly ties with the BJP and fled from the House without taking part in voting or raising issues concerning the state effectively,” he said.

“This shows the TRS lacks sincerity and commitment towards Telangana state and is only interested in their selfish political gains. TRS has lost a golden opportunity to pull up the NDA government in the Lok Sabha on non-fulfilment of promises made in the bifurcation Act,” the TPCC president said.

He urged the people not to vote for the TRS or the MIM in the upcoming elections. “Voting to TRS amounts to voting the BJP and the MIM. The MIM is maintaining secret ties with the BJP. If not, why did the MIM fail to question the BJP in the Lok Sabha on the delay in giving clearance to 12 per cent Muslim reservations passed by the Telangana state Legislature in April last year," Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy asked.
