The railway police had held talks with the state police and sought their assistance in curbing the problem. “We met various police officials in and around the city and sought their help. Jointly, we are trying to end the problem,” said Senthil Kumaresan, senior divisional security commissioner, Hyderabad Division, Railway Protection Force.

The police will soon be be installing closed circuit television cameras in the localities that are close to the railway tracks where instances of stone pelting have been reported. “Trains plying during the night are mostly targetted by the people. Sharing the videos of belly dance performance at the Noori Palace Function Hall in Old City landed nine people behind bars.

The police have warned people against sharing the obscene videos of action as sharing the content of the social media. Nine people were arrested, including the groom for organising dance at a reception at Noori Function Palace, in Old City, on Saturday.

Ten Russian dancers performed dances on the stage during the reception. The videos went viral following which the police altered a section of the case from 188 of IPC to Sections 294 and 370 of Indian Penal Code and arrested nine persons including the bridegroom, Yahya Bin Salam Bahamed.

“We had invoked Section 294 (Does any obscene act in any public place) and 370 (Buying or disposing of any person as a slave) in the case as it was an obscene performance. A case will be registered against anyone sharing the content of social media as the dancers are victims,” said DCP (south) V. Satyanarayana.

Cyber crime expert Falgun Rathod said under Section 67 of IT Act 2000 any one sharing obscene videos on any digital platform, including Facebook and Whatsapp, is liable for prosecution.
