Debate over MLA row on, TS tells HC

Vedula Venkat Ramana, senior counsel appearing for Assembly Secretary Narasimhac­haryulu before Justice B.V. Siva Sankara Rao urged the court to grant two weeks’ time to take steps to implement the court order granted in the case of the MLAs.

When the Judge sought to know the Law Secretary’s response, counsel S. Sharath Kumar also urged the court to grant time to take steps to implement the order.

Telangana Legislativ­e Assembly secretary and the law secretary informed the Hyderabad High Court on Friday that consultati­ons are progressin­g to restore the membership of Congress MLAs Komatiredd­y Venkat Reddy and S.A. Sampath Kumar.

Mr Vedula Venkat Ramana, senior counsel appearing for Assembly Secretary Narasimhac­haryulu before Justice B.V. Siva Sankara Rao urged the court to grant two weeks’ time to take steps to implement the court order granted in the case of the MLAs.

During the last hearing, the court cautioned that it will summon both the Secretarie­s and also it will implead the Assembly Speaker in the contempt case.

While commencing the hearing on Friday, the Judge said that there is no need of hearing the arguments on the merit of the case at this stage and the arguments will be heard only after issuing notices under the Contempt of Courts Act to the respondent­s.

When the senior counsel urged to grant time to implement the court order, the Judge said that the court does not have any objection to grant time if they are willing to implement the order.

When the Judge sought to know the Law Secretary’s response, counsel S. Sharath Kumar also urged the court to grant time to take steps to implement the order.

While refusing to grant two weeks’ time, the Judge posted the case to March 10.
