NIA questions four youth

-

Four more youth were summoned by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for questioning related to an ISIS case registered by the agency two years, sources said.

The agency has already examined eight youngsters from in and around the city on Tuesday. It conducted searches at various places in the city on Sunday and Monday as part of its ongoing investigation.

The officials, who seized laptops and mobile phones of the suspects, had sent them for digital forensic analysis and for checking the conversation history on social media accounts and phone based application of the suspects. The sleuths feel that the digital history will help them understand what communication was going on between the members and a few persons from foreign countries.

A few persons who were questioned by the agency in the last two days figure in a case registered by the agency in the 2016 ISIS Abu Dhabi module busted by the agency in January 2016.

The agency had arrested three persons, Adnan Hassan of Karnataka, Sheikh Azhar ul Islam of Jammu and Kashmir and Mohammad Farhan Shaik of Maharashtra, in the Abu Dhabi module case. They had joined the ISIS and were trying to recruit others.

The agency, in the charge sheet filed in the case of the arrested trio, had also named a few persons from the city, including Mohd Abdullah Basith of Chandrayangutta, Mohamed Mujtaba of Edi Bazaar, Hannan Qureshi, Adnan Ahmed and Sana whom the agency said were members of the Hyderabad based ISIS module.

Official sources said, the ongoing probe was part of the earlier investigation and speeded up after fresh leads surfaced and there were inputs of the module reportedly trying to revive it.

For the last two days the officials have been questioning the suspects to ascertain their activities. The agency is also probing a girl too following fresh leads. The girl, according to the agency, had reportedly intended to marry the ISIS sympathiser based in Dubai before joining the group.
