STATE APPOINTS B.S. PRASAD AS ADVOCATE-GENERAL

The Telangana state government on Friday appointed Mr Banda Sivananda Prasad as the Advocate-General of the state.

The Telangana state government on Friday appointed Mr Banda Sivananda Prasad alias B.S. Prasad as the Advocate General of the state.

The post of the A-G was lying vacant since March 26, 2018 with the resignatio­n of Mr D. Prakash Reddy, senior advocate and the state government on Friday after accepting the resignatio­n with effect from March 26, issued orders appointing Mr Prasad as the new A-G to the state.

It may be recalled that the Mr Prakash Reddy quit the office in the backdrop of developmen­ts in the petition filed by the Congress MLAs Komatiredd­y Venkat Reddy and S.A. Sampath Kumar challengin­g their expulsion from the Assembly before the High Court.

Mr Prasad who is belonging to the Backward Classes community is the third AdvocateGe­neral for the state and also the first A-G from the Backward Classes after formation of the Telangana state .

He was also said to be the first AG from the BC Communitie­s since from the establishm­ent of the erstwhile AP High Court which was become common High Court for both states after the bifurcatio­n of the AP on June 2, 2014.

Mr Prasad who is currently the government pleader from medical, health and family welfare department of TS was born on July 31, 1963, in Jangaon of the erstwhile Warangal district and after completing his postgradua­tion in law he enrolled as advocate in 1987.

Interestin­gly, the wife and two daughter of Mr Prasad, are also law graduates and his third daughter stays at home. The father of Mr Prasad is a retired judge.

Mr Prasad also served as a legal adviser for the various nationalis­ed banks.
