Srisailam project gets inflows of 2,35,840 cusecs
The water level in Nagarjunasagar dam on Sunday touched 540 ft by 8 pm with huge inflows from the Srisailam project.
Nagarjunasagar dam is all set to attain full reservoir level (FRL) of 590 ft in the next two days, if the inflows continue at the same pace.
On Sunday, the project received huge inflows of 2,34,240 cusecs. The project attained FRL in September 2014, after which 12 crest gates were opened to release water.

The water level in Nagarjunasagar dam on Sunday touched 540 ft by 8 pm with huge inflows from the Srisailam project. Nagarjunasagar dam is all set to attain full reservoir level (FRL) of 590 ft in the next two days, if the inflows continue at the same pace.
On Sunday, the project received huge inflows of 2,34,240 cusecs. The project attained FRL in September 2014, after which 12 crest gates were opened to release water.
Officials expect this situation to repeat in the next two days with heavy rain forecast in the next 48 hours. Srisailam project continues to receive heavy inflows from projects in upstream Karnataka and Jurala project.
On Sunday, Srisailam received inflows of 2,35,840 cusecs. After this, irrigation officials released 2,34,240 cusecs to Nagarjunasagar by lifting six crest gates.
The current water level at Srisailam stands at 881.90 ft against FRL of 885 ft. The current storage of Srisailam stands at 199.73 TMCs against full storage capacity of 215.807 TMCs. Similarly, the storage level at Nagarjunasagar reached 186 TMCs against full storage capacity of 3125 TMCs.
Officials released 7,778 cusecs to the right canal and 1,000 cusecs to the left canal from Nagarjunasagar dam.
The Sriramsagar project water level reached 1072.00 ft on Sunday night as against its full reservoir level of 1091 ft. The present storage of water is 33.125 TMC against full storage capacity of 90 TMC. Meanwhile, inflows into SRSP reduced to 11,180 cusecs. There is no rain in the catchment area of the project for the last 24 hours. There is also no outflow from the Sriramsagar project.
Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal, of West Bengal and Odisha coasts, a low pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal and the vicinity.
According to Met officials, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem, Mancherial, Jagitial, Rajanna Siricilla, Peddapalle, Karimnagar, Bhupalpally, Warangal, Badradri Kothagudem, Mahbubabad, Khammam, Suryapet, Nirmal, Nizamabad, and Kamareddy districts in the next two days. Hyderabad is expected to have generally cloudy skies with a few spells of rain or thundershowers at the beginning of the week, while rain or thundershowers would occur towards evening or night in the middle of next week.
