Student fractures leg in a bid to escape cops’ drunk checks
Siddartha along with his friend was on the bike. On seeing the police, he parked the vehicle and started running and ended up fracturing his leg.
A case has been registered against him for rash and negligent driving. The incident took place at road no. 10 Jubilee Hills.

In a bid to escape the drunk driving checks of the Hyderabad traffic police, an engineering student put his life at stake by running on the road.
He ended up fracturing his leg by jumping from the median and has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
The incident took place at road no 10 in Jubilee Hills around midnight on Saturday, when a team of Jubilee Hills traffic police was conducting an enforcement drive against drunk driving.
During the drive, the police caught 165 persons including 60 four-wheeler riders for driving under the influence.
The engineering student, Ch. Siddartha, 20, a resident of Sanathnagar was going towards Jubilee Hills check post.
He saw the traffic police stopping riders to carry out breathanalyser checks. Panicked at this, Siddartha hurriedly parked his bike at the road side and started running away from the police.
A drunk Siddartha climbed onto a median and jumped resulting in his fall. He suffered a fracture to his right leg above the ankle.
He also bled out heavily because his bone broke.
Siddartha, a third-year engineering student (CSE), along with another friend Jani Pasha, was returning to Sanathnagar from Jubliee Hills. He reportedly did not tell his family when he went out and as result panicked and tried to escape the police.
Jubilee Hills inspector P. Balwanthaiah said, “We rushed him to a private hospital for treatment, and his health condition is stated to be stable.”
Jubilee Hills Additional inspector K. Srinivas added, “A case has been registered against Siddartha for rash and negligent driving. Further investigation in the case will take place after he recovers.”
During the drunk driving checks across the city on Saturday night, the Hyderabad traffic police registered 340 motorists including 68 four-wheeler riders and 15 auto drivers. Among them, 162 cases were booked in the north (traffic) zone and 178 cases were registered in the south (traffic) zone.
The traffic police said that all the vehicles had been detained and the respondents asked to appear for counselling at the traffic training institutes in Goshamahal and Begumpet, and they would be produced before the concerned courts for further legal proceedings.
