LOCKED INSIDE HOME, WOMAN ENDS LIFE

A 22-year-old woman, who was locked inside their house in Nallakunta by her husband after she asked him for permission to visit to her mother's residence, committed suicide by hanging herself on Saturday evening.

Police have booked the man for wrongful confinemen­t and abetment to suicide.

Nallakunta police has identified the victim as Tejavath Sneha, a resident of Nekonda in Mahabubaba­d district. According to police, the woman asked her husband Veerender for permission to visit her home in Nekonda on Saturday morning, but he refused and locked her inside their home. Veerender is a cab driver.

Additional inspector K. Saidulu at Nallakunta police station said, “In a fit of rage she killed herself by hanging from the ceiling fan.”

The incident came to light after Mr Veerender asked his friend to check on his wife. The man found the door latched from inside and when he peeped into the house through the window he found Ms Sneha hanging. He informed Mr Veerender about the incident.

The local residents informed Nallakunta police about the suicide. The police filed a case against Mr Veerender under section 342 (punishment for wrongful confinemen­t) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC and arrested him.

The police has handed over the woman’s body to the family members after the postmortem examinatio­n at Gandhi Hospital.
