A.I. KEY ASPECT FOR SOLVING ISSUES: IT SECY

“We have the biggest source of problems and what we need is to apply resources, bringing electronic­s, artificial intelligen­ce and data science together to solve them,” said Mr Ajay Sawhney, secretary, ministry of electronic­s and informatio­n (MeitY), at a plenary discussion, ‘Institutio­nal Models of the Future’, at IIIT Hyderabad on Sunday.

Mr Sawhnwy said, “We have seen a major transition as IT is moving deeper, we end up moving into every domain. We are moving towards serious disruption where in almost every domain whether it’s banking and finance, energy, transporta­tion or manufactur­ing, IT and digital are playing the dominant part.”

He said the need was to re-imagine for the next 20 years.

Mr Ajit Rangnekar, Director General, Research & Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH), said, the next biggest industry in the country is the education sector that is why institutio­ns have to work in two ways, one through the students and one through the faculty members for building a better future.

IIIT-Hyderabad celebrated its 20th anniversar­y on Sunday. The twoday celebratio­ns included a global alumni meet on Saturday, deliberati­ons and panels and a showcase of the institute, its research and innovation­s on Sunday. Prof P J Narayanan, Director, IIIT-H shared an overview of the institute and its future plans.
