3 killed in Medak road mishap

Hyderabad: Three persons were killed when a lorry rammed into a stationary trolley that was carrying 26 passengers at Gajwel, Siddipet, on Friday. Police said about 13 persons received injuries and the condition of six was critical. The trolley was carrying a joint family to Cheriyal from Pamulapart­hy to attend a funeral, said Gajwel inspector B. Kamalakar. The driver of the lorry fled after the mishap.

Three people were killed and two injured when a speeding lorry dashed against a Tata Ace trolley carrying 26 passengers on Friday evening at Gajwel of Siddipet.

Police said that around 13 passengers received minor and major injuries. The condition of six of them is said to be critical.

The trolley, carrying a zjoint family, was heading to Cheriyal from Pamulapart­hy to attend a funeral, said B. Kamalakar, sub-inspector of Gajwel Police Station. “On Friday, around 4:30 pm, while the family halted their vehicle on Rajiv Rahadari in Gajwel, a speeding lorry coming from Hyderabad, crashed into the trolley, killing three men, identified as Akkaram Kishtayya, 60, Akkaram Pochaiah, 30, and Saiavva, 60, and injuring several others,” said the official, adding that the lorry driver fled the scene of the crash.

The gravely injured were shifted to the Gajwal Government Hospital nearby and those with minor injuries were moved to a private hospital in Hyderabad.

Police said that they are conducting mechanical examinatio­n of the vehicle to know the reason behind the crash.
