77,000 new voters enrol in 10 days
Political parties who earlier taken aback by the deletion on votes have now surprised with the new enrolments in 15 assembly constituencies in the Hyderabad district. There are as many as 77,622 new enrolments from September 1 to till date, when there were 82,608 new enrolments between January 2018 and August 31.
More than 28,418 votes have been deleted in eight months. Cutting across the party lines representatives from all political parties have participated in meeting headed by district election officer (DEO) M Dana Kishore on Saturday at Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation headquarters near Tank Bund. Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy, who present in the meeting questioned the sanctity of new enrolments. Terming the new enrolments as manipulation alleged that the huge rise voter has been witnessed after care chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's instructions to take up the enrol campaign aggressively. “How can more than 77,000 votes can be enrolled in a span on 10 days when 82,000 votes were enrolled in eight months?”
Mr Shashidhar Reddy said that the DEO did not provide addition and list of voters when they were supposed to give. He said that the authorities have making mockery of democracy. He said that how can any political party verify voters without addition and deletion list. Mr Reddy also alleged that shaking the fundamentals of democracy by compressing four months revision in to four weeks. “The same election staff which has been used for past eight months can enroll more than 77,000 within 10 days,” he said. Mr Reddy also alleged that the official present in the meeting have not recording the minutes of the meeting .
A senior GHMC official on condition of anonymity said that the corporations extensive campaigns have resulted in increase of new enrolments.
