- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, SEPT. 25

Female students from Osmania University (OU) held a protest in the wee hours of Tuesday and continued till late in the afternoon, on the university premises over the deteriorating condition of hostels. The protest triggered after a power cut last night and there was no response from the university authorities even after repeated complaints.

Students complain about the poor quality of food in hostel adding that even washrooms are also not being maintained properly.

Students complained that the food that they are getting is full of stones and is not edible. They also complained about the frequent power cuts which is affecting their sleep. During the protest, they also highlighted the poor condition of toilets in addition to lack of properly maintained spaces for reading and recreational activities. Mr Naresh Dudapaka, state president, Dalit Minority Students Association (DMSA), said, “The university administration, including registrar and hostels director and other officials have come to discuss the issue but when students asked for a written agreement to fix the date, the authorities have backed up and mentioned that they would resolve everything within 15 to 20 days.”
