Ameerpet station has highest footfalls daily at 15,000

- KANIZA GARARI I DC HYDERABAD, SEPT. 26

An approximate 1.5 lakh passengers are now using the Metro rail in Hyderabad after the LB Nagar stretch opened. There were 10,400 commuters at L B Nagar Metro Rail station on the second day of commercial operations.

Ameerpet has the highest number of footfalls daily - 15,000. LB Nagar has 10,400, Miyapur 8,100 and KPHB 8,400 every day. On the first day of commercial operations 1.45 lakh paid passengers used the metro rail, and the new section, Ameerpet to LB Nagar, has added 69,000 riders.

N. V. S. Reddy, managing director of Hyderabad Metro Rail, said, “There were not many joy rides as we observed when the first Metro train started from Nagole to Ameerpet and Ameerpet to Miyapur. We are seeing serious riders – employees, selfemployed, women and children – using the trains. The numbers will stabilise in the next 15 days. This is an encouraging trend for public transport as switching over will mean less private transport and less pollution.”

Hyderabadis have welcomed the Metro showing a passenger satisfaction level of 98 per cent. Keolis Hyderabad MRTS Ltd, which operates the Metro Rail, stated that Hyderabad stood first in passenger satisfaction among 13 mass transit systems across the globe operated by the Keolis group.

The Keolis group recently conducted a passenger satisfaction survey of public transport in 13 cities.
