Congress, Telugu Desam call the raids a political vendetta

- S.N.C.N ACHARYULU I DC

Opposition parties blame TRS chief and caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for the income tax raids on Congress MLA Revanth Reddy's residence.

Congress and Telugu Desam call the raids a political vendetta. Cases instituted against senior leaders of the Congress party by the state government have strengthened these allegations. The TS government has ferreted out old cases against Congress leaders ahead of the elections.

Recently Mr Revanth Reddy was issued a notice by the Jubilee Hills police to attend an enquiry within 15 days on the issue of the Jubilee Hills Cooperative Housing Society. The allegation was that he sold some plots using false documents. This is a decade-old case but the police have issued the notice now.

Former MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy was arrested on a human trafficking charge. Cases were booked under the Arms Act against another former MLA Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy.

TRS leaders deny the allegations of the Congress that these cases have been foisted on the above persons to defame them and their party.

Regarding the I-T raid on Revanth Reddy's residence, the Congress alleges that Chief Minister Rao has colluded with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to order this politically motivated raid.

TRS leaders are not taking the accusations lying down.

TRS MP K Kavitha said from Nizamabad that the I-T department comes under the purview of the central government and not the state government. TRS leaders have also pointed to recent I-T raids on their party MP Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy as proof that it is not in their power to order such actions.

The TS government has ferreted out old cases. TRS denies the charges of opposition parties that it’s behind the raids.

Denying the allegations, TRS MP Kavitha says I-T department is under control of the Central government not state government.
