PIL against traffic jams at Metros

C.S. Adinarayana urged the Chief Justice to intervene in the matter

The Hyderabad High Court has suo motu taken up the issue as a PIL related to the pathetic situation in parking areas at the Metro stations of the city based on a letter by one Mr C.S. Adinarayana, a resident of the city.

Mr Adinarayana had written a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court stating that the situation in the parking areas at the Metro stations was pathetic and zigzag parking at both sides of the roads at the stations creating the trouble to the on goers and pedestrians.

He submitted that without there being sufficient parking space, commercial complexes, hotels and theatres are built which was leading to parking of vehicles outside the commercial complexes creating hindrance.

He brought to the notice of the court that commercial complexes, hotels, theatres and malls are built in the areas where they were not even declared as commercial which was nothing but illegal. He urged the Chief Justice to intervene in the matter and pass appropriate orders.

The public interest litigation committee comprising of the judges which has perused the letter recommended taking up the issue as a PIL.

While registering the letter as a PIL, the court has made principal secretary of municipal administration, Home department of Telangana, Hyderabad city police commissioner, additional police commissioner of traffic, GHMC commissioner and managing director of Hyderabad Metrorail as the respondents in the case.
