Hyderabad 10k Run on Nov. 25

-

The 16th edition of Hyderabad 10K Run will take place on November 25 at People’s Plaza, Necklace road. The marathon has been designed to promote health fitness and sports culture.

The campaign’s theme this year is ‘My City My Run’ with the idea that every step counts. In 2017, around 12,000 people participated in the marathon and this year the expected crowd is more than 15,000.

At an event on Thursday, Run Director Murali Nannapanni said the marathon was designed to promote running as a primary form of fitness. “The highlight of this year will be the Family Run that will encourage the families to register, run and celebrate a healthy lifestyle,” he said.

The race will have three categories — Elite 10K Run, Open 10K Run and Open 5K Run. The Elite 10K Run is for professionals having completed the course in less than 40 minutes in the last one year. The Open 10K Run will be a timed run whereas the 5K Run will be a non-timed one. Each participant will receive a T-shirt, finisher’s medal, breakfast & timing certificate, the organisers said.

The registration fee for Elite and Open 10K Run is `1,000 per participant whereas the fee for Open 5K Run is `750. For participants interested in the Family Run, each member will have to pay `500 as registration fee.

The marathon also encourages all the startups to register and participate in the run.

Promoting the Run, Telangana Secretary of Tourism B. Venkatesham, IAS, spoke highly of Hyderabad, which he said, had the best climate throughout the year and was best suited for healthy life. “Hyderabad has become one of India’s most developed cities in the last few years. If there is any big conference involving many countries, it takes place in Hyderabad. It is one of the best cities to live in,” he said.
