Chain snatchers strike again in the outskirts of the city at Choutuppal and Shamshabad, looting six tolas gold from two female pedestrians.

On Wednesday morning, one Manjula, a daily wager from Choutuppal was crossing the main road at Valigonda cross roads, when two bike-borne snatchers pulled away a three-tola gold chain (nuptial thread) worn by her. Alerted by her screams, the passers-by tried to stop the robbers, but they managed to escape.

Choutuppal inspector P. Venkateshwarlu said “The woman did not suffer any injuries. The suspects were on a bike and sped away. The reports that the suspects were caught by the locals are false. A team is working on the clues available to nab the suspects. A case of robbery has been registered based on the complaint by Manjula.”

When the women were heading towards a bus stop, two bike-borne snatchers pulled away a gold chain weighing three-and-a-half tola, worn by Parvathamma and fled from the spot, said Shamshabad police.

The police said that they have certain clues in connection with the offence and a team is on the job to nab the suspects.
