KTR, KAVITHA TAKE OVER REINS OF CAMPAIGN IN TS

TRS sources say KTR proved his mettle with civic body election results

-

TRS president and caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who plans to campaign in 100 Assembly constituencies, has left the responsibility in the capital to his son, caretaker minister K.T. Rama Rao, and daughter, TRS MP K. Kavitha.

Mr Rama Rao and Ms Kavitha start the campaign in Hyderabad soon. The TRS has to announce candidates for some seats in Hyderabad district which have been kept pending.

TRS sources said that Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had the confidence that Mr Rama Rao would good results in Hyderabad. Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had placed Mr Rama Rao in charge of the GHMC elections held in 2016. The TRS won 100 seats out of 150 in the corporation, the first time in many elections that one party had won with such a massive majority.

This victory gave Mr Chandrasekhar Rao a lot of confidence in his son. Mr Rama Rao and Ms Kavitha are also good speakers and attract the people.

As municipal administration minister, the GHMC has been Mr Rama Rao’s biggest area of operation.

The GHMC limits covers 24 Assembly constituencies.

In the previous Assembly elections, the TRS won only three seats in the GHMC limits but this time it wants to win at least 15.

Some Assembly constituencies in the GHMC area have a majority of voters of AP origin.

Mr Rama Rao speaks about this section of the voters at every available opportunity. He says they are not ‘settlers; whoever resides in Telangana state are Telanganaites.

Recently some people of AP origin joined the TRS which has given the party the confidence that this section will vote for the ruling party in the upcoming elections.

The TD is usually strong in constituencies dominated by AP origin voters who are angry with the Congress for state bifurcation. With the TD joining hands with the Congress, the TRS feels it can benefit from the anger.

A senior TRS leader said if necessary Mr Chandrasekhar Rao may address a meeting towards the end of the campaign. If AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu campaigns in Hyderabad, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao may decide to hold a meeting

KCR may not campaign in Hyderabad city. In 2016 GHMC elections, TRS won 100 seats out of 150, and after a long gap, majority seats won by a single party in civic body elections. Party banking on oratory skills of sister-brother duo.
