Panel formed to keep eye on political adverts CEC TO CHECK POLL PREPAREDNE­SS

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporatio­n commission­er and district election officer M. Dana Kishore formed the Media Certificat­ion and Monitoring Committee to keep a strict vigil on paid news, advertisem­ents, campaigns on electronic and social media.

All political parties should get clearance from the MCMC prior to any advertisem­ent in print and electronic media. Mr Dana Kishore will be the chairman of the five-member committee.

An MCMC committee member said that action will be taken if false informatio­n is posted on social media and the norms applicable to print and electronic media will also be applicable to social media. No publicity campaigns should be conducted Hyderabad, Oct. 21: Chief election commission­er Om Prakash Rawat and election commission­ers Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa will be arriving here on Monday to review poll preparedne­ss, Telangana chief electoral officer Rajat Kumar said.

“The Chief Election Commission­er and two ECs are coming to Hyderabad on Monday. It is a visit of the Commission. They would review the preparedne­ss for the polls. If there is anything that their attention is drawn then they will look into that also,” at government expenditur­e. The MCMC committee will begin monitoring from the dat of nomination­s.

As a precaution­ary Kumar said. The is the first visit of the EC after the election schedule for the state was announced, to review the poll preparedne­ss of the state.

The top EC officials would meet various political parties, besides senior officials of the state government and the police department, an official release had earlier said.

The team would meet the Director General of the Income Tax Department and other senior officials before leaving for the national capital on October 24.
