KCR may set up helipad at home

HYDERABAD, OCT. 28

TPCC working president Ponnam Prabhakar alleged on Sunday that the Telangana state government was acquiring five acres of land to develop a helipad near the residence of caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at Karimnagar.

This would constitute a breach of the code of conduct imposed ahead of the December 7 elections, he said. “The government has issued a notification on October 26 to acquire the land,” Mr Prabhakar alleged.

Speaking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Prabhakar said, “How can the land notification be issued by the government, when the election code is being implemented, and for something that is not a government building? We will complain to the Election Commission.”

He said the TRS leaders were worried about the elections and caretaker minister T. Harish Rao was already “allotting” portfolios to leaders to calm them. “This shows how tense they are,” Mr Prabhakar said.

He said, “Caretaker Minister K.T. Rama Rao should reveal how much money his father took from the TD chief (AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during the 2009 elections.”

He said TRS leaders were alleging that AP police personnel were working to influence the elections. “If that is true, why didn’t the police arrest them,” Mr Prabhakar asked, referring to three AP constable reportedly detained briefly at Dharmapuri on Saturday.

He said the Congress would always fight against the people who were against TS. “If the Prajakutami wins, a person from Telangana will be the administrator. The TRS should remember this. The TRS is hand in glove with the BJP and MIM. KCR does not care about bifurcation promises as he has compromised with the BJP fearing CBI cases,” he said.
