- DC CORRESPONDENT

Following the attack on Andhra Pradesh leader of the Opposition Mr YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has approached the Director General of Police (DGP) Mr M Mahendar Reddy seeking increased security.

The Congress has requested the enhancement of security for TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy to Z category security with a bulletproof car and an escort. Apart from the TPCC president, the Congress has also demanded increased security for Campaigning Committee Chairman Mr Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Ex MLA Mr Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy.

The TPCC treasurer Mr Gudur Narayana Reddy met the DGP and submitted a memorandum requesting security to the Congress leaders who include Gudur Narayana Reddy himself, Working President Ponnam Prabhakar, and AICC secretary Madhu Yashki, Star Campaigner Vijayashanti, TPCC General Secretary H. Venugopal and other leaders.

Mr Gudur Narayana Reddy also wrote that the threat perception for Congress leaders in Telangana had increased, especially in view of the forthcoming assembly elections. “The state police or the Security Review Committee (SRC) has not conducted any periodical assessments of threat to opposition leaders. It seems that the SRC is working under the direction of the ruling party and reduced the security of important leaders.”
