56 NABBED BY SHE TEAMS IN THREE WEEKS

The Rachakonda She Teams have apprehende­d 56 eve-teasers in a span of three weeks in October. Apart from this, the police prevented two child marriages at Choutuppal.

Based on the complaints received from victims, the police registered 48 cases that included 21 FIRs and 20 petty cases. Seven were let off after counsellin­g.

In a case at Adibatla, a 20-year-old B. Pharm student from Abdullapur­met was harassed by her classmate D. Darani Krishna, 20, of Bowenpally. She not only turned him down, she also complained to her parents who warned him to stay away from her.

Enraged, he accosted her in college and threatened her with dire consequenc­es if she made any further complaints. When she protested, he beat her up.

Finally, she complained to the police. Based on her complaint, a case was registered against the accused and he was arrested.

At Meerpet, a nursing student who met a painter through Facebook about three years ago, faced severe harassment from him later.

O. Durga Prasad, 24, collected the details of the girl's college and her residentia­l address.

He followed her to college and home and harassed her with phone calls and messages to accept his marriage proposal.

When the girl refused to marry him, he started sending defaming and abusive messages to her, threatenin­g to send the same to her relatives to take revenge.
