2 men convicted for rape, murder

Incident came to light when girl complained

A father who raped his two-year-old daughter was sentenced to life imprisonme­nt by Ms Suneetha Kunchala, judge of the special court dealing with Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) cases on Thursday.

The accused was identified as Syed Imran Ali, 31, of Santoshnag­ar and the complaint was filed by his wife.

Ms S. Spandana, legal support officer for POCSO cases, said that according to the complainan­t, she married the accused in 2010 and they had two sons and a daughter. Her husband used to stay at home while she used to work as a maid servant.

“A year ago, her daughter complained that she was suffering from pain. She immediatel­y took her to a hospital and came to know about the assault,” Ms Spandana said. “When questioned, Two people were convicted in two separate cases at Pahadishar­eef and Keesara on Thursday. In one case, a man who raped his daughter was given life imprisonme­nt while in another case, a man who killed his wife got lifer.

According to Rachakonda police commission­er, a case was registered against Niranjan Berah, 35, for raping his 16-year-old daughter and impregnati­ng her. He was arrested under Sections 376 (2) and 506 of IPC and Section 5 the girl told her mother about her father’s sexual assault. The mother immediatel­y lodged a complaint. r/w 6 of POCSO Act.

The girl delivered a baby in 2017 and the DNA of the baby matched that of the accused.

Niranjan was sentenced to life imprisonme­nt and was asked to pay `10,000 as penalty, said the commission­er.

In another instance at Keesara, the 13th Additional District Judge Court at LB Nagar convicted one P. Narsingh Rao on charges of domestic violence and murder of his wife Hemalatha in 2014. The court sentenced Rao to life imprisonme­nt on Thursday and pay `200 as penalty. The accused was found guilty under various sections of POCSO Act. He was awarded RI and `2,000 fine.
