Illegal buildings rise in Alwal, GHMC ignores

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Residents of Alwal have claimed that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has been turning a blind eye to unauthorised constructions coming up in the area. They claim that despite lodging complaints, the corporation has not taken any action against the violators for a year now.

S. Chandrasekhar, a member of the India Against Corruption Volunteers Association filed a petition on behalf of Green Fields plot owners claiming that S. Gnaneshwar has illegally constructed a house (No. 132-861) on government land (survey numbers 373, 378, 376, 379, 380, 381 and 386) in Kanajiguda village.

He said that the structure was examined by the GHMC, which submitted a report saying that it had not accorded building permission.

Then, in contradiction of its own report, the corporation in its 'action taken report' said that Mr Gnaneshwar had obtained building permission No. D/2049/91. B.A. No. 161/91 dated 11 November 1991.

The corporation report also stated that the first floor was constructed without authorisation.

The report also said that Mr Gnaneshwar had applied for Building Regularisation Scheme (BRS) application No. 2000066104 on January 4, 2016.

When enquired about this matter, a senior GHMC official said that he was unaware of the issue and action will be initiated against the violator immediately after probing it.

RESIDENTS OF Alwal have claimed that the GHMC has been turning a blind eye to unauthorised constructions.
