2 SELL AYURVEDIC MEDICINES ILLEGALLY, JAILED

A local court has awarded four days jail term to two persons, both Inter dropouts, who were selling Ayurvedic medicine illegally under Meerpet police station limits.

The Meerpet police have identified the accused as Shiva Datta,

20, and M. Srinu, 22, both residents of Uppuguda.

According to the Meerpet police, the accused were cheating the locals by claiming that they can could any kind of body pain with the Ayurvedic medicine.

Meerpet sub-inspector Md. Mohammed Ali said, “They approached one Srinivas Reddy, 40, and gave him some Ayurvedic medicine that they claimed would cure his knee pain and demanded `5,000 from him. When the victim said he did not have money, they urged him to sell gold ornaments and pay them.”

The victim approached the Meerpet police. During investigat­ions, the police found that the boys did not have licence to sell the Ayurvedic medicine and that they were cheating the public.

The police registered the case under Section

70 B of the Commission­er of Police Act and Section 274 of the IPC and sent them to court. The First Special Metropolit­an Magistrate, LB Nagar, awarded them four days jail on Thursday.

■ INVESTIGAT­IONS REVEALED that the boys did not have a licence to sell the Ayurvedic medicine.
