KCR NIECE SEEKS TICKET FROM TD

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasek­har Rao’s elder brother’s daughter K. Ramya Rao met TD president and AP Chief Minister N. Chandhraba­bu Naidu at Undavalli on Thursday.

It is learnt that she Ms Ramya Rao expressed her desire to join the TD and sought a party ticket to contest from Telangana state where the party is in alliance with the Congress.

Ms Ramya Rao has been a bitter critic of Mr Chandrasek­har Rao and had joined the Congress in 2015 in the presence of the then PCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah. She was largely inactive in the Congress. It is believed that she had sought a party ticket but was turned down by the Congress after which Ms Ramya Rao wanted to try her luck in the TD. BC leaders in the Congress staged a protest at the All India Congress Committee headquarte­rs in Delhi on Thursday, saying the community was under-represente­d in Telangana state.

Speaking to mediaperso­ns, TPCC OBC committee convener Ashok Goud said, “One single community is dominating the Congress in Telangana. All tickets are being issued to them. If a community with 4.2 per cent of the population is grabbing 42 seats, what about the BCs who are more than 50 per cent of the population? This particular community has hijacked the party in Telangana.”
