Man comes under wheels of RTC bus while overtaking it

A 24-year-old man was killed when he came under the rear wheels of an RTC bus while he was overtaking it near Survey of India in Uppal on Monday.

At about 8 am, Vemuri Ravi, 24, a resident of Saroornaga­r was heading towards Secunderab­ad on his bike. When he reached the main road opposite Survey of India, Ravi tried overtaking a bus from the right hand side and came under the rear tyres, said the Uppal police.

Uppal inspector P. Venkateshw­arlu said, “Ravi, a private employee, was heading to Secunderab­ad. While he was overtaking the bus, the bus hit him and Ravi fell. He came under the rear wheels and his head got crushed under the wheels. Ravi was not wearing a helmet when the accident took place.”

He said that a case was booked against the driver of the bus and he was taken into custody. The body of the victim was handed over to his wife after a post-mortem was conducted at Gandhi Hospital.

In an accident that occured just yesterday at Medipally, a couple identified as Koteshwar Rao and Swapna was killed when a speeding RTC bus hit them while taking a U-turn at Narapally crossroads.

Three others were also injured in the accident, and are stated out of danger.
