Woman chose police over IT, tops S-I exam 458 TAKE OATH AS S-I’s, 63 ARE WOMEN

Maloth Rama Devi, belonging to an agricultur­al family chose the police department over the IT industry and stood as the Best All Round Cadet Sub-inspector, leading the 12 contingent­s during the Stipendiar­y Cadet sub-inspectors.

The 24-year-old woman hailing from Jannaram village in Khammam completed her engineerin­g from Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologi­es in Basar, in Telangana. After graduation, Rama Devi got a job with Infosys that paid her `28,000 per month. But, she chose to serve the public by joining the police.

Rama Devi cleared the police recruitmen­t board examinatio­n and got selected as a police constable. Later, she also wrote the entrance examinatio­n for stipendiar­y cadet sub-inspectors and got selected for that too.

“After undergoing five months of police constable training, I again took the SI training for nine months. It was my would-be husband who motivated me to write the S-I examinatio­n even after I got selected as a police constable,” a proud Rama Devi shared with the media.

“Though I just wanted a government job, I learned a lot while training as a police officer,” told Rama Devi.

She was awarded Chief Minister’s Revolver for Best All Round Cadet S-I, Home Minister’s Baton with Silver End for Best Indoor Cadet SI, and Director General’s Medal for Best in Law and Order. As many as 458 stipendiar­y cadet sub-inspectors (Civil, AR, TSSP and TSPF) took an oath to ensure the safety of the people, during the passing out parade at Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy Telangana State Police Academy on Monday.

The 458 S-Is included

63 female officers. The best all round cadet S-I was awarded to Maloth Ramadevi. About 193 were selected for civil,

69 to armed reserve, 185 to Telangana state special police and 11 to special police force.

During the nine month training, the cadets were trained in Forensic Science, Medicine, IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act.
