Teja cracks ton, Hyderabad on top

Hyderabad, Nov. 21: Ravi Teja struck his maiden first-class hundred, helping Hyderbad post a daunting

460 against Delhi on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Group ‘B’ match here on Wednesday.

Resuming the day at 232 for 3, Hyderabad continued to frustrate Delhi who are without key bowlers including Navdeep Saini and Ishant Sharma.

Opener Tanmay Agarwal could only add eight runs to his overnight 112 before being bowled by pacer Kulwant Khejroliya.

Batting at No.7, Teja then took the innings forward with an unbeaten 115 off

206 balls. Teja, playing only his fifth first-class game, collected nine fours and a six. He got good support from No.9 C. V. Milind, who was run out after making a fine 58.

Pacers Kheroliya and Gaurav Kumar took three wickets each for Delhi and did not concede too many runs. Hyderabad were all out for 460 in 170.3 overs.

In response, Delhi were 21 for no loss in seven overs at stumps, facing a stiff challenge of taking the first innings lead. Sarthak Ranjan and Hiten Dalal were batting on 6 and 14 respective­ly.

Delhi are also playing without their senior batsman Gautam Gambhir, who missed the game due to a shoulder niggle.

Meanwhile in Ongole, Tamil Nadu made 122 for 3 in 50 overs at stumps after bowling out Andhra for 216 in the first innings.

Only 140 runs were scored from around 60 overs of play possible before bad light ended proceeding­s on the day. Resuming at 198 for

8, Andhra’s innings ended for the addition of 18 runs. Girinath Reddy, overnight

69, scored 86. Medium-pacer M. Mohammed (4/70) and left-arm spinner R. Sai Kishore (3/29) were the main wicket-takers. Sai Kishore and T. Natarajan (3/36) wrapped up the host innings by removing B. Ayyappa and Imandi Karthik Raman, both failing to open their account.

Tamil Nadu was provided a solid start by the experience­d Abhinav Mukund and M. Kaushik Gandhi as the duo added 70 runs for the first wicket. — PTI
