Pets may have chewed Harihar’s thumb: Cops

- NAVEEN KUMAR | DC

The medicine last taken by Harihar Reddy, whose decomposed body was found at his residence in Banjara Hills, was not prescribed by a doctor, police said.

Reddy had asked his neighbour to get him a tablet when he was experiencing chest pain on November 15 and he was not seen after that, police said, adding that his body was discovered after foul smell emanated five days later.

According to Banjara Hills ACP, K. Srinivasa Rao, M. Harihar Reddy, 52, son of former IPS officer M.L.N Reddy, was found dead at his residence at Road No. 5 Banjara Hills. “He seems to have locked himself at his residence and the reason behind his death is suspected to be a heart attack,” said the official.

Banjara Hills police inspector R. Govinda Reddy said that he owned a dog and a cat, who were not fed for five days. “Reddy’s left thumb was cut, but was it decomposition or the hungry pets who chewed it is not yet known” said the inspector, adding that the pets have been adopted by his relatives.

“Neighbours who noticed a foul smell and did not see Reddy around for days, called his brother Rahul, who reached home on Wednesday morning and broke open the door, to find Harish’s decomposed body. He consumed the medicine given by his neighbour and said that he would call him if he needs further help. We are suspecting that he died of heart attack, as there were no visible injuries on his body and no suicide note at the scene,” said the official. The Banjara Hills police have stated it as a heart attack, until the PME report comes.
