Homeless couple’s baby abducted

An Assistant Commandant of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police Ninth Battalion, P. Naga Durga Prasad, was arrested by the Bachupally police of Cyberabad for allegedly transferri­ng the General Power of Attorney (GPA) for a land registered on his wife Saritha’s name without her knowledge and arranging another woman to impersonat­e her.

A case against Prasad, alias P.N.D Prasad, was first booked at Bachupally around four An eight-month-old baby boy was allegedly kidnapped by a man who was known to the parents residing near Vidyanagar Railway Station early Friday morning.

According to Government Railway Police officials, Ghouse, an acquaintan­ce of the parents, Srikanth and Miraj, took the baby, Eshwar, away while the parents were sleeping early Friday morning.

“All three of them were homeless people residing at Vidyanagar railway station and used to beg for a living. On Thursday night, Ghouse and the parents consumed toddy and went to sleep on the platform of Lalaguda railway station. On Friday morning around 6 am, Ghouse took away the baby and boarded months ago when his wife Saritha complained that her husband had stolen land documents belonging to her and forged them with the help of another woman and changed the the GPA to his mother’s name. Further, he also managed to get the GPA transferre­d onto his name. an autoricksh­aw. The CCTV images showed him disembarki­ng the autoricksh­aw at Rathifile near Secunderab­ad railway station. His whereabout­s after that are not known yet,” said an officer.

The parents have not received any phone call from Ghouse with any demand, the official added.

Based on a complaint from Eshwar’s mother, Miraj, a case was booked under relevant sections of the IPC and an investigat­ion is underway, the police said.

While the probe was ongoing, 10 days ago, the DSP rank officer went to one Reddy Prasad’s house in Nizampet, a businessma­n, and beat him before taking away his mobile phone.

The businessma­n had filed a complaint against the officer with the Tirupathi police for maintainin­g an extramarit­al affair with his wife.

Bachupally police said that two cases were booked against P.N.D Prasad: One on charges of theft, cheating and forgery based on his wife’s complaint and the second for robbing Reddy Prasad.
