Former lecturer held for cheating

A lecturer-turned-scamster who targetted bank and staff only on Wednesdays was arrested by the Sultan Bazaar police for cheating people under the pretext of selling properties to them and claiming that he is a distant relative of theirs.

Officials seized `1.72 lakh from his possession.

According to the Sultan Bazaar police, the man was identified as V. Renukadas Rao alias Chitti Rao, 63, a resident of Uppal and a native of Nizamabad.

With the help of CCTV footage, the police arrested Renukadas.

The Sultan Bazaar police sent a proposal to higher authoritie­s to invoke PD Act against the man.
