2 WHO STOLE CELLPHONES TRACED, HELD

Two Karnataka natives were arrested by the Chandanaga­r police for lifting mobilephon­es from a shop in Chanadanag­ar.

With the help of Internatio­nal Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) code of the stolen mobilephon­es, the cops traced the offenders.

The accused, identified as M. Muneshwar, 19, and S. Sagar,

22, entered an electrical shop which was next to the mobile shop and by using the drilling machine they made a hole in the wall and entered the mobile shop.

They made a recce at the Black and White cellphone shop opposite Geetha theater in Chandanaga­r a day before theft.

The accused escaped with 56 mobilephon­es stolen from the shop.

Madhapur deputy commission­er of police A. Venkateshw­ar Rao said, “They sold some of the phones to customers in Bidar. We took

15 digit unique IMEI code and traced the signal at Bidar. We sent our teams to investigat­e them and nabbed the culprits.”

Mr Rao said, “The accused are profession­al offenders. There are many house burglary cases pending against them in Balki and Bidar. We are sending fingerprin­ts of the accused to Forensic department to find out if they are involved in any other cases in Telangana state. We are also planning to invoke PD Act the accused”.

The police have recovered 36 mobilephon­es and `30,000 cash, all worth `3 lakh from the accused.
