TSHA PLANS DISTRICT COMMITTEES
In order to restore the heritage structures in across Telangana, district-level heritage committees would be formed under the Telangana State Heritage Authority (TSHA).
Speaking at a high-level meeting held at Secretariat on Tuesday to discuss the Telangana Heritage Act 2017, Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi said that the TSHA will be formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary.
Similarly, heritage committees for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and district heritage committees for all districts would be constituted immediately. The idea is to make an inventory of all heritage structures in the state and come up with an action plan to take up restoration and repairs of all heritage structures in the state.
A Telangana Heritage Fund would also be started to enable private individuals to donate as also companies under the Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Chief Secretary asked the GHMC to identify the most vulnerable monuments and heritage structures and fence them immediately. It was also decided to freeze the status quo on usage of all monuments with immediate effect.
Municipal administration principal secretary Arvind Kumar, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy, Hyderabad collector M. Raghunandan Rao and Department of Heritage, Telangana, director N.R. Visalatchy attended the meeting.
