- DC CORRESPONDENT

A 22-year-old history sheeter from Chandrayangutta, who was arrested for burglaries by the Balapur police was convicted by the LB Nagar Court on Wednesday.

The court directed him to undergo two years of simple imprisonment and pay `2,000 as penalty.

Habeeb Abdul Thala Ali Hodrus, 22, who was involved in a burglary case at Jalpally village was arrested by the Balapur police.

Habeeb, started committing offences as soon as he was given bail for his previous case.

Vanasthalipuram ACP C. Gandhi Narayana said, “After getting bail, Habeeb went to the witnesses and threatened them. Due to this, his witnesses turned hostile and he was acquitted in 11 cases.”

“But, he was detained for burglary, and a PD Act was invoked on him to ensure that he does not threaten witnesses again. The court conducted a trial and convicted him for the offence,” Mr Narayana added.

The ACP said that Habeeb, who named his gang as ‘Horse gang’ created panic among the residents at Shaheen Nagar, Errakunta, Barkas and Kothapet areas and a history sheet was opened against him at Chandrayangutta police station.

He was notorious for housebreaking offences and has also been involved in several cases of attempt to murder.

Three cases against him are under trial, added the ACP.
