YELLOW VEST PROTESTER ARM SEVERED
Paris, Feb. 9: A protester has had his hand blown off after a grenade explosion that took place at a Yellow Vest rally, also known as the Gilet Jaunes movement, in Paris. Shocking footage of the incident shows a member of the Yellow Vest protest holding a wounded arm, with his hand brutally ripped off by a GLI-F4 grenade. Eyewitnesses told the AFP that grenade was fired by police to disperse the crowd as protesters attempted to force their way into the grounds of the French National Assembly.
The victim is a ‘yellow vest photographer’ who was busy taking pictures of people pushing against the fence of the National Assembly at noon when the incident took place, according to a witness.
In the footage posted online, street medics can be seen rushing toward the victim who is sitting on the ground and holding his wounded arm.
The Paris Police Prefecture has confirmed to Le Figaro that the ‘wounded demonstrator’had been taken to a local hospital by firefighters.
The brutal grenade explosion comes amid escalating clashes between protesters and police during the 13th consecutive Yellow Vest rally in Paris.
Yellow Vest events are also taking place in Montpellier, Lille, Nantes and Lorient.
