The probe into NRI businessman Ch Jayaram’s murder is taking new twists and turns, as Jubilee Hills police grilled several accused persons.

On the second day of questioning of accused K. Rakesh Reddy and D. Srinivas, it has emerged that the former may never have lent money to Jayaram but was instead planning to extort money from him through a “honey-trap”.

On Thursday, Jubilee Hills police interrogated Rakesh and Srinivas for almost 10 hours continuously. The police also summoned murdered Jayaram’s niece Shrika Chowdary and a few realtors.

N. Nagesh, a history-sheeter from SR Nagar, and his friend Vishal are simultaneously being questioned. The investigators reportedly learnt that Surya Prasad, a Telugu film actor, and his friend Kishore were part of a plan executed by Rakesh to extort money from Jayaram.

“On the day of Jayaram’s arrival, Rakesh messaged him from another number, posing as a woman, and honey-trapped him. The next day, Surya and Kishore picked Jayaram from Jubilee Hills and took him to Rakesh’s house, where Rakesh, Srinivas, Nagesh and Vishal were present,” a source close to the police said.

The police also found that Rakesh had not given any money to Jayaram and instead wanted to extort him.

The DCP said police officials facing allegations will also be summoned for questioning. He said while the role of three persons is suspected in the murder, more persons could also be involved.
