City’s NZ terror victim Uzair Khadir laid to rest
The funeral prayer of Uzair Khadir, who was shot dead on March 15 in the terror attack at Masjid Noor in Christchurch of New Zealand, was offered at Jamia Masjid Darusshifa in Hyderabad on Sunday. He was later buried at a graveyard in Dabeerpura.
Hundreds of mourners, including relatives and friends, participated in the funeral procession and last prayer.
Home minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, Charminar MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, MLC Riyaz Hussain Effendi, GHMC deputy mayor Baba Fasiuddin, chairman of the Haj committee of Telangana State, Masiullah Khan, and other dignitaries attended the prayers. Uzair Khadir’s body reached Hyderabad on Saturday.
His elder brother Umair Khadir collected his body from Christchurch and airlifted it to Hyderabad. Three youths of Telangana State died in the attack in Masjid Al-Noor, while one youth Ahmed Iqbal Jahangir, a resident of Amberpet, has been admitted to a hospital and is recovering.
The other two persons, Farhaj Ahsan of Tolichowki and Mohd Imran of Karimnagar, were buried in New Zealand. In an unfortunate incident, an explosion carried out at a construction site in Raidurgam managed to injure a person on Saturday.
The police, who have registered a case, are probing if there were any irregularities and violation in controlled blasting.
According to police, at around 3 pm on Saturday, a controlled explosion was carried out at the construction site by Phoenix Forever, near NCC Urban behind Ikea showroom under the limits of Raidurgam police station.
However, a stone, during the explosion, flung into the air and hit the security guard of ‘D Address’ apartment, that is located beside the site. The victim, Nalam Nagam Sai (39), suffered an injury to his nose.
Based on his complaint, a case has been registered under sections 336, 337 and 188 of IPC for the probe, said the police.
